sullivat asks:

Hi Barry Chen. What is your favorite color, and are you color blind? If you are color blind, how would you know that your favorite color is what you think it is?

What is your favorite food, and are you taste-blind? If you are taste blind, how would you know that your favorite food tastes like what you think it tastes like?

These are some things I need to know about you, Barry. For research.

I do not have a favorite color and am not color blind. The best color for something depends on what that something is and its design. By best, I mean my favorite, and usually that is the best.

I don’t have a favorite food either. There are simply too many to choose from.

  2. I too have to get the same procedure (vertical ramus osteotomy) I wanted to know what kind of braces you had (I’m thinking of getting the one’ that go behind your teeth)? And if you don’t mind telling me, approximately how much will your procedure cost? Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

  3. Hi Barry,

I really enjoy your blog, how am I able to join to read more? I am interested in all you have to say about orthognatic surgery. I was told I most likely need it but I still have to talk to the doctors at Kaiser.
I was told by my orthodontist I might need upper and lower jaw surgery to fix and open bite. I enjoy very much that you post so many pictures.
When I look in the mirror I always wonder how the surgery will change me. Do you think you could post pictures of your sister before and after? that her cheecks got bigger is a great thing! and her face smaller I think too.
You can definetely count me in as another of your regular readers.

    Thank You

  4. Hey man,

I’m thinking of getting jaw surgery to move both my lower and upper jaw surgery forward, i also have the option of just moving my lower jaw forward(which reading your blog I believe your sister had done). The thing I fear the most is permanent loss of sensation. Did you experience any and did it eventually dissipate –are you now back at 100percent full functionality or are there any lasting effects. I’m pretty nervous about it all, so anything you think I should know would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks so much,

    Rex
